Affiliate Disclosure

LaserMeasure earns commission when you buy through some of the links on this site. It costs you nothing extra. Here is exactly how that works and the rules we hold ourselves to so it does not change what we recommend.

The plain version

LaserMeasure is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

When you click a Check price link on this site and buy something, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay the same price you would have paid going to Amazon directly. Nothing is added to your total and no discount is taken away.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Where the links are

Every affiliate link on this site is a product purchase link. They appear as Check price buttons in comparison tables and at the end of product entries, and they open in a new tab.

Product links are marked so you can tell them apart from references. The links to laser measures we have reviewed appear as Check price buttons, which are hard to mistake for anything else.

We also link a small number of accessories inside the writing, such as target plates, tripods and spirit levels. We recommend these repeatedly across the site and it seemed unhelpful to tell you to buy something without letting you go and look at it. Those links appear in red with a small arrow, like a target plate, so they are visibly different from an ordinary link.

Accessory links go to an Amazon search rather than to one specific product, because we have not reviewed those items individually and we are not going to pretend we have picked one for you. Every other link in our writing goes to another page on this site or to a source.

The rules we hold ourselves to

Commission does not affect ranking. Products are ordered by whatever axis the page is about, and that axis is stated at the top of every guide. Several pages here lead with the cheapest product on them, which is the opposite of what commission would suggest.

We remove products that fail, regardless of earnings. Eight have been dropped so far after reading owner reviews, including one with more than six thousand ratings that would have sold well. All eight are named here with the reason for each.

We publish pages that recommend nothing. Our Hilti page carries no purchase link at all, because the units sold through that channel are grey imports with a display that cannot be switched to feet and inches and a warranty the manufacturer has declined to honour. That page earns nothing by design.

We flag problems on products we recommend. The Leica Disto X3 is one of our strongest picks and every appearance of it carries a warning about receiving the wrong model number. The DEWALT DW099S is recommended for Android users and explicitly not for its Bluetooth on iPhone.

We do not accept payment for placement. No manufacturer has paid to appear on this site, to be ranked in a particular position, or to have criticism removed. If that ever changes it will be stated on the page in question, prominently, and it will not be quiet.

We do not use sponsored or gifted units. We have not been sent product by any manufacturer.

What the links do technically

Affiliate links on this site carry rel attributes marking them as sponsored and nofollow, which is what search engines ask for and what we would want as readers. They open in a new tab so you do not lose the page you were reading.

Clicking one sets a cookie on Amazon's side that credits us with the sale for a limited window. We do not receive your name, your address, your payment details or a record of what you bought. What we can see is aggregate: how many people clicked, and how many items were bought. Nothing that identifies you.

Prices

Where we mention a price it was accurate when the page was written and prices on Amazon change constantly, sometimes several times a day. Treat any figure here as an indication of the price band rather than a quote, and check the current price on the listing itself.

Questions

If anything about this is unclear, or you think a recommendation on this site reads like it was bought rather than earned, tell us. We would rather hear it.
