The short version: this site does not ask you for anything. There is no account to create, no newsletter to join and no form to fill in. What follows describes the small amount of data that is handled anyway, mostly by other companies, when you visit.
Almost nothing. This site has no login, no registration, no newsletter signup and no comment form. Browsing it does not require you to tell us anything.
The one exception is the contact form. If you choose to use it, we receive the name and email address you enter, what the message is about, the page you are referring to if you name one, and the message itself. That information is sent to us by email and a copy is stored in the site database so a message cannot be lost.
We use it to reply to you and to correct the site. We do not add you to any mailing list, because we do not have one. We do not pass it to anyone, and we do not sell it.
If you would like your message and details deleted after we have dealt with it, say so in the message and we will remove both the email and the stored copy.
Like almost every website, this one runs on a server that keeps standard access logs. Those typically record the page requested, the time, the browser and operating system, the referring page, and an IP address. This is ordinary web server behaviour and it is used to keep the site running and secure.
We also use analytics to understand which pages people find useful and where they leave. That tells us things like how many people read a guide and which links get clicked. It is reported to us in aggregate. We do not use it to build a profile of you, we do not attempt to identify individual visitors, and we do not sell or share it.
A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. This site uses them in two ways.
Necessary cookies may be set by WordPress to make the site function correctly.
Analytics cookies help distinguish a returning visitor from a new one so the aggregate numbers mean something.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. This site will work normally without them. Nothing here depends on a cookie to display content.
This is the part worth reading properly, because it involves a company other than us.
LaserMeasure participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click a product link on this site you are taken to Amazon, and Amazon sets its own cookie so that any resulting purchase is credited to us. That cookie is Amazon's, governed by Amazon's privacy notice rather than this one.
What we receive back from Amazon is aggregate reporting: numbers of clicks, numbers of items ordered, and commission earned. We do not receive your name, your address, your payment details, your Amazon account information or a record of what any individual person bought.
If you would rather not be tracked by Amazon in that way, you can visit Amazon directly rather than through our links, or clear cookies afterwards. Our affiliate disclosure explains the commercial side of this in full.
The site loads its typeface from its own server rather than from a font service, so no third party font provider sees your visit.
We do not run advertising networks, retargeting pixels, social media tracking widgets or embedded content from other sites. If that changes, this page will change with it.
This site is intended for a general adult audience buying tools. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data a site holds about you, including the right to ask what is held, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted. Residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and California have specific rights of this kind.
Since we hold no personal data about visitors beyond server logs and aggregate analytics, there is usually nothing to retrieve or delete. If you have emailed us and would like that correspondence removed, ask and we will delete it.
Server logs are kept for a limited period as part of normal hosting operation and then rotated out. Analytics data is retained in aggregate. Email correspondence is kept only as long as it is useful for answering you.
This site links out, mostly to Amazon and occasionally to standards bodies and manufacturers. Once you follow a link you are on somebody else's site, under their privacy policy, and we have no control over what they do. It is worth reading the policy of any site you give information to.
If we change how the site handles data, this page will be updated to say so. Continued use of the site after a change means the updated policy applies.
Questions about privacy, or a request relating to your data, can be sent through our contact page.
If you have not settled on a unit yet, the laser measures we recommend are gathered on our front page, eight of them, each with the reason it is there.
