This listing states that the tool meets ISO 16331-1, and it is the only product in our entire review set that names a standard at all.
That matters because of how tolerance figures are usually produced. A manufacturer tests under conditions it chooses and publishes the resulting number. There is no requirement to say what those conditions were, which is why we have found units quoting a sixteenth of an inch that owners measure at a quarter, and listings whose imperial and metric figures do not agree with each other.
A published standard for testing handheld laser distance meters means the figure was arrived at by a defined procedure rather than a private one. It does not make the tool more accurate than a competitor. It makes the claim a different kind of claim.
The stated working range is 0.6 to 65 ft. That upper number is unremarkable. The lower one is genuinely useful and we have made this point across the site: every listing leads with a maximum and almost none tell you where the tool stops working at the near end.
Zero point six of a foot is a little over seven inches. Below that, this tool has nothing to say. Think about how many everyday measurements are shorter than seven inches, and you understand why a laser measure never replaces a tape. We cover that in full here.
This is the complaint that decides whether the tool suits you, and it comes from two independent owners.
One rated it three stars and returned it, explaining that they found it hard to hold the instrument against a wall and press the button with one finger at the same time. Another, rating it four stars for value, wrote simply that the bottom is hard to press down.
That is a specific ergonomic problem rather than a fault. The whole proposition of a one button tool is that you press it against a surface and press once. If the action requires enough force that you cannot do both at the same time with one hand, the simplicity stops paying for itself.
It is worth handling one, or buying somewhere with easy returns and trying it in the first five minutes.
One owner who likes the tool and calls it accurate and good value added a specific frustration: they cannot find the manual on the internet, even though the packaging carries a QR code to scan.
On a single button device that is less serious than it would be elsewhere, since there is not much to learn. This is a compact tool with no app, no area or volume calculation, no angle sensor and no Pythagoras function. If you want those, this is the wrong Leica.
What you get instead is a measurement, from a company whose reputation rests on measurements, with nothing to configure and nothing to go wrong. For a lot of people that is worth paying for, and the same logic sells the Fluke 417D at the other end of the market.

Anyone who wants one accurate reading with no menus, no phone and nothing to learn, over distances a house contains. Also anyone who values a verified performance claim over a bigger number.
Anyone who needs area, volume or angle functions. Anyone measuring beyond 65 ft. And anyone who cannot try the button first, given two owners raised it.
