The most useful review here is one the owner came back and updated, which is rare and worth taking seriously.
They bought it as a pocket tool for gathering rough measurements while doing estimates, and were happy with it on that basis. After a couple of months carrying it in their bag they returned to add that they were so impressed they had started using it in place of their old reliable tape measure most of the time. Their line about precision work is the one that matters: even with finish carpentry, they can fully trust this laser to be within a sixteenth of an inch.
They also singled out being able to take a snapshot of three quick measurements, which is the sort of small workflow feature that decides which tool you reach for.
Klein is the only brand we cover that publishes accuracy in two tiers: a sixteenth of an inch for roughly the first thirty feet, then an eighth beyond that. Read quickly, that looks like a weaker tool. But a finish carpenter works almost entirely inside thirty feet, which is the tier where Klein promises the tighter figure, and that is exactly what he reports getting. Klein is not describing a worse instrument. It is describing the same physics every laser measure is subject to, with the distance boundary printed rather than hidden. One owner put this plainly and it is the single most useful criticism on the listing. The measurement is momentary. You have to read the small display while holding the laser in place on the target. You cannot shoot a distance, bring the unit down, and then read it.
Think about when that matters. Measuring a ceiling height with the tool overhead. Measuring into an awkward corner where your body is between you and the screen. Measuring at arm's length through a gap. In all of those, a unit that holds the last reading lets you take the shot and then look. This one does not.
For measuring across a room, where the tool is in front of you and the display faces you, it is a non issue. For overhead and awkward work it is a real constraint, and it is not mentioned anywhere in the listing.
Klein sells this on one button operation, and owners split on whether that is elegant or frustrating.
One found it difficult to keep just the measuring function active, saying it kept defaulting to other features. Another was blunter, calling the ease of use and overall interface far inferior to every Bosch model they had used, and saying they expected better from Klein.
Against that, the carpenter above and many others describe it as simple and quick. Our reading is that one button controlling several modes is a design that rewards learning it once and punishes occasional use. If you will pick this up twice a year, that is worth weighing.
The reference end is adjustable. One owner noted it can be set to measure from either the front or the back of the device. That is genuinely useful and solves a problem we see repeatedly on other units, where the datum is fixed and catches people out. If you measure both from a wall face and out over an edge, this handles both.
Leave the screen film on. One owner removed the protective film from the display and reported the numbers became hard to read afterwards. That is user error rather than a fault, but it is an easy mistake to make on a new tool and an expensive one to undo.
One owner described the display and laser as bright enough to use even in bright situations, while adding that full sunlight outdoors can still be a glare challenge. That is a fair and typical assessment for a red beam unit, and it matches everything else we have found. Shade and overcast are workable, direct sun is not.

Anyone measuring overhead or into positions where they cannot see the screen at the moment of the shot. Anyone who needs a tight tolerance beyond thirty feet, where Klein openly drops to an eighth. And anyone who wants a tool they can pick up twice a year without relearning it.
If the momentary reading is the problem. Bosch's Blaze units hold the last measurement on screen and have a real-time mode. The GLM100-23 is the closest equivalent, though one owner found three units reading slightly out of tolerance.

Whatever you buy, check it against a known length first, and with a two tier specification it is worth checking at a short distance and a long one, because those are two separate claims.
