CIGMAN's own listing states the maximum measurement distance reaches 393 ft, and then adds in brackets that unidirectional reaches 196 ft. In other words the headline figure is what you get measuring in two opposite directions at once and adding them. Aim it at one wall like a normal laser measure and you have a 196 ft tool.
That is not hidden and it is not dishonest, but it sits inside a long bullet and the number on the title is the big one. We have now read dozens of reviews across several 393 ft units where owners are frustrated that the range does not deliver. In at least some of those cases the tool is performing exactly to specification and the buyer was reading the wrong number.
The best explanation on the listing comes from a satisfied owner, and it is worth repeating because the marketing never puts it this well.
Because it fires a laser in two directions by default, you can walk into the middle of a room and take the width and the length without ever going to the edges or the walls. You also do not have to crouch down and shoot from the floor upward, because the second beam handles the opposite direction for you.
That is a genuine workflow change rather than a spec sheet feature. If you measure a lot of rooms, not having to walk to a wall and back for every dimension adds up quickly. It is the same reasoning that makes this popular with estimators.
The trade off is the one every dual laser unit shares. Two way mode is quoted looser than one way mode across the category, so the mode that saves you walking is the mode that costs you precision. On Huepar's units that difference is a sixteenth of an inch against an eighth.
One review, which eight other buyers found helpful, is structured as a feature by feature test and it is the most useful thing on the listing.
What they confirmed working: the length measurement on both ends, described as accurate and working very well. The inclination sensor. The electronic bubble level. The electronic angle mode. The rear magnet, which they judged strong enough.
What they reported not working on their unit: area measurement, volume measurement, wall area, and indirect measurement. They also noted that a padlock symbol appears on the screen with no explanation anywhere in the manual, and that the manual does not tell you how to clear stored measurements from memory.
Their conclusion was that the functionality is a very poor job.
We cannot tell from one report whether that is a faulty unit, a firmware issue, or a mode sequence the manual fails to explain. What we can say is that if those calculation functions are why you are buying it, test all four on the day it arrives.
Another critical reviewer ran the comparison we would want. They own other name brand laser measures which they describe as easier to use and more accurate, and they specifically verified their Bosch against an actual tape measure first, which is the right way to do it. In a side by side against that verified Bosch, this unit came off worse.
Against that, an owner who bought two units for a project reported that both measured the same to within about a tenth of an inch, which is a reasonable agreement between units even if it says nothing about absolute accuracy.
CIGMAN sells two versions and the difference is in the specification rather than the name.
The CD-60R, this one, is quoted at plus or minus 1/16 in, which is 2 mm. The older CD-60 is quoted at plus or minus 1/8 in, which is 3 mm. Both claim the same 393 ft bidirectional and 196 ft unidirectional.
If you are comparing listings and one is cheaper, that is what you are giving up. On a tool bought for accuracy, going from a sixteenth to an eighth is the whole difference.
Estimators and anyone measuring a lot of rooms, where standing in the centre and shooting both ways genuinely saves time. Also anyone who needs an angle sensor and a magnetic back at this price.
Anyone buying it for 393 ft of one way reach, which it does not have. Anyone whose work depends on the area and volume calculations, until you have tested them. And anyone who needs verified accuracy, where a Bosch checked against a tape is the safer route.
